Update

Dear PSG Friends,

Many thanks for your presence and support to a successful SARONG party dinner last Saturday. The event was in appreciation for PSG's support to our year long activities. Here are a few pictures of our gathering. Appreciations to the Sub-Com, to The Hedgers for opening their home, all others who contributed goodies and to Sutini for the photos.

Update

FLAG DAY - Sat 21 Nov (from 7.30am for shift 1 and 10am for shift 2)
1. Please proceed to the school hall to sign out your tins. Tins to be returned by 1pm if possible.
2. MORE volunteers may come directly to school to submit name/sign-up for a tin.

SARONG GARDEN PARTY - Sat 28 Nov (from 6.30pm) at Kensington Park
Once again thanks to Peter and Sheila for hosting and for Pauline, Su, Virgie,Nori and Annie for taking the lead. We have 47 adults and 5 kids so far. Lots of regulars have FORGOTTEN to sign-up. PLEASE submit your names to Les by 20 Nov for catering purposes.

The school term is over and the O-levels are well underway... but our host of activities and celebrations continue!...

Gabrielite Golf and Dinner Event - DXO
Wed 18 Nov 09 (from 6pm for Dinner)
By now everyone knows about this fund raising event (Gabrielite bursary). Newer PSG are especially invited to join in the dinner.($56 @head) - Good food and music at DXO Explanade. Tickets with Lesley. PLS BOOK NOW! (Les@81339422)

Foundation Flag Day
Sat 21 Nov 09 (Shift 1- 7.30am and shift 2 -10.30am)
Thank you for volunteers so far to help with this annual Flag Day. Come along. Bring your kids. Spend the morning (about 3hrs per shift) for a VERY GOOD cause. (for needy boys across all Gabrielite institutions). PLS VOLUNTEER- email Lesley your name/preferred shift.

SARONG Garden Party @ Kensington Park- PSG Appreciation Dinner
Sat 28 Nov 09 from 5pm for those swimming or else come along from 6.30pm
Our year-end party is taking shape! Thanks to our sub-committee!!!
Come to our SARONG party with your family! YES...in a SARONG of course! Lets celebrate having worked together for a year and enjoy each others company. Our very own prata/satay stall! $10 per adult and $5 for 12 and below. The rest of the event will be subsidised. Bring your wine/booze too. To-date we have 39 adults and 5 kids. Update

Firstly, Deepavali Greetings to all our friends who are celebrating!

Here is a quick update for all based on our meeting of Thursday 15 Oct 09:

1. PSG Appreciation Dinner - Thanks to Anne/Angela/ Jacqueline and Jeya for the legwork in sourcing for potential function rooms. Unfortunately, the shorlisted restaurant (Moshi Moshi Bollywood) turned out to be too small. We have reverted to our Garden Party for PSG families at Kensingon Park (based on fresh votes). However the event has been moved to Sat 28 Nov from 5pm (for those who want to swim). It will be catered with a minimal charge of $10 per adult/youth above 13yrs and $5 for kids. Pls email Lesley (asap) if you are attending so that the team can plan the catering.

2. Gabrielite Dinner 18 Nov (DXO Esplanade) - More PSG are encouraged to support/ purchase dinner tickets @$56 a head for a wonderful evening of great food, entertainment by Jive Talking and fun activities. Tickets with me. Pls sms or call Lesley to reserve. Its all for a good cause- Gabriliete needy boys.

a. Volunteers to help out at the Golf Segment (Raffles at Tuas from 1pm) or at the DXO registration from 6.30pm, do email me asap.
b.If you have any items of value to be auctioned, pls let me know too. Hedgers are donating carpets.

3. Sec 1 Orientation is scheduled for 23 Dec (8am-1pm). Volunteers are needed to help welcome new parents and extend invitations for them to join our PSG Family!. Pls email Lesley by 30 Oct to confirm your availability.

Update

GREETINGS!

Many thanks to all who came for our PSG meeting on Friday 18 Sep. Below are the items requiring your response.

Our next meeting is on Friday 2 Oct at 7.30am in the Conference Room. The agenda is to announce the new EXCO,finalise the term 4 support and Chinese New Year Cookie 2010 project . Do try to come.

Event 1 - Gabrielite Golf and Dinner (raise funds for the Gabrielite Foundation)
Wed 18 November at Raffles Golf (Tuas) and Dinner - DXO at Esplanade (about $56 a pax for dinner)
Needed: Golfers invited to take up a flight and PSG to attend the dinner or help out where necc. Pls email me your attendance. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Event 2 - Flag Day (raise funds for Gabriel foundation needs)
Sat 21 Nov (7.30am till noon) in shifts so it is about 2 hrs commitment each shift
Needed: Volunteers to help with a tin each in designated areas. (new PSG greatly encouraged)

Event 3 - PSG Annual Appreciation Dinner (To recognise the hardwork of PSG for yr 2009)
Proposed date: Friday 20 Nov (7pm onwards)
Option 1: Dinner/Games at a venue (eg Serangoon Country Club or Restaurant at Dempsey)
Option 2: Garden Party at Kensington Park c/o The Hedgers with roti prata and satay stall
(Pls let me know your choice. We will go with the majority)
(For either options a minimal charge will be included to help us defray costs)

Update

GEAR UP!

We meet at 7.15am (at your convenience) in PSG room before our flag off at 7.45am with the boys. Pls remember to wear your PSG t-shirt if possible. Those driving to the stadium are requested to help send a few cartons of drinks for our PSG stall over there. Location of stall will be as per per instructions from school on arrival there.

(Thanks to Milton Monteiro for offering to do the relay...and Soccer dads- bring your football boots along. For info on events - do check with Alvin 91962972 or he can direct accordingly)

WE CELEBRATE ! (Teachers Day)

For those joining, the evening program starts at 6.30pm....don't forget to bring your cheerful smiles! It is a special day for our dedicated teachers!..NB: Deco team will be there from 2pm-4.30pm, Caterer to set up before 6.30pm. Do liaise with your respective team leads for anything else: Food - (Virgie) and Enertainment- (Anne)

Dear Friends,

Many thanks to all who attended the Morning Tea Sesion with Mr Lee and staff on Fri 31 Jul. Your participation is appreciated. Here's a snapshot of upcoming activities:

1. Next PSG Meeting Friday 14 Aug 09 at 7.30am (PSG room)
Our meeting agenda will include a review of Racial Harmony Day, Preparations for ACES Day and Teachers Day Lunch.

2. SFE Talk: Seasoned To Taste
Our next SFE Parenting Talk entitled "Seasoned to Taste: Catering to Diverse Learning Styles" is scheduled for Friday, 21 August 2009 at the AVA Room from 7pm-9pm. The letter to parents has been sent for distribution to the students. Kindly note that parents have been requested to return the completed response slip (only if they are attending the talk) to their child's Form Teacher by Wednesday, 19 August 2009.(From Ms Mohana)

Update

Dear parents, pls be informed of the following:

1. The Fund Raiser Mass Walk for the Indoor Sports hall is planned for ACES day 28 August 09. The Appeal Letters and the Pledge Cards for donations have been distributed to your boys. Please do note and support our project.

2. Please continue to visit the St Gabriel's School website regularly for latest updates eg. on the H1N1 precautionary matters and other important school notices.

3. The next Breakfast/Tea Session with Marcel and Key Staff will be on Friday 31 July at 8am in the canteen. All PSG members are invited. Pls email Lesley (lessgd@yahoo.com.sg) by 20 Jul if you are attending.

4. If you or your boys are approached by the media for any feedback or comments on matters pertaining to the school, please refer them to the school/principal, as this is the appropriate course to take.

Update

1. One Day Trip to JB - All those who are interested to join in our 1 day Trip of JB , we hope u can come by for a short meeting on Friday 29 May at 7.30pm in the PSG room to fix date (Mon 15 June)/discuss options/finalise some details.. The trip is to get to know each other even better!

2. Tea Light Workshop - This is planned for Wed 3 June from 8am-1pm. Those interested do take a look at the picture attached of a sample but the vase you will do is a bit smaller. Do email Lesley if you can make it. Estimated costs for materials will be advised later and we hope to get permission to use the PSG room.

Update

Hi Everyone!

1. Many thanks for all helpers at the recent International Friendship day 17/4 and Speech day 18/4. Your kind assistance and efforts, was greatly appreciated. Both events went well.

2. The Love Offerings received from the Hot Cross Buns distribution (topped up to $450) has been presented to Marcel Lee on 24/4 for the needy boys programme. This was done at the Fund Raiser Project Meeting.

3. We wish Jo-anne and all her Mothers Day volunteers the very best for the sale coming up on Monday 27/4 and Wed 29/4 during recess time. Funds raised from this event would be for the PSG activites. Volunteers are reminded to report to the canteen by 10am as per your duty schedule.

4. There were over 35 parents at the first SFE talk on "Fighting Invisible Tigers" (about stress mgt) on Fri 24/4 night. Grrr!

Events Update


Ahn-nyong-ha-se-yo! (Hello!) We sincerely thank our new parent Seo Jung Won for sharing about Korean culture at International Friendship Assembly on Tue 14/4. Appreciations to Sophia and Flora for all the support and co-ordination too. The sharing was a big hit especially when Jung Won presented in national costume and closed the presentation with a clip of Pop songs by a Korean girl pop group!

Next PSG Meeting & Upcoming Events

Our next meeting will be on Fri 17 Apr at 7.30am before International Friendship Day activities. Mr Lee would like to kick off the project for indoor sports hall funds collection too. PSG Project Lead needed.

Our International Friendship Day project lead is Flora and she will liaise with all volunteers who signed up.

Speech Day is on Sat 18 Apr (pm) but deco to be done in the (am). Siti has kindly offered to be deco project lead. Volunteers for reception and ushering still needed .

LONG SERVICE AWARDS (LSA)
Many thanks to the volunteers who assisted at the Bike Hike (Pulau Ubin on 2/4) and for all the helpers on Fri 3 Apr and Sat 4 Apr for the long service awards. Your kind assistance was truly appreciated. We also got to know each other better! (Check out our PSG Blogsite for pictures on the LSA)

SCHOOL FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM
We welcome Eve (St Gabriels new SFE co-ordinator) and thank Jo-anne Lee our PSG member who has volunteered to be the PSG liaison with Eve. If there are any topics for talks you think would be useful to you as parents, pls let Jo-anne know. Her email is jorick2002@yahoo.com; You may also pick up copies of talks offered from the PSG room when you come next.

HOT CROSS BUNS DISTRIBUTION WED 8 APR 09
Hot cross buns will be distributed this Wed at recess time. The lower sec recess is from 10.50am while the upper Sec from 11.15am. Volunteers pls report to the canteen latest by 10.30am so we can organise ourselves.

Looking ahead to Week of 6 April - 9 April


The school has agreed to the distribution of Hot Cross Buns at Holy Week. A kind PSG member has already sponsored the buns (by Sweet Secrets) to be delivered to school on Wed 9th (9am). The distribution of Hot Cross Buns will be on Wed 8 Apr (at recess time). This is not a sale, but any love offering from boys welcome.

Volunteers pls report to canteen by 10am. There will be two recess slots for lower and upper sec 10.25am and 10.50am .

Event - Sat 4 April 09 (9am-12.30noon) Long Service Awards


All volunteers for car-parking, pls be in school by 8.30am and look for Mr Thanabol or Benjamin should they need assistance. If they have enough hands, pls proceed to help with USHERING at foyer.

All USHERS pls report to the reception table at the foyer by 8.45am. Teacher in charge is Miss Sim and Ms Gloria. Do introduce yourselves. 300 guests from different Gabrielite schools expected. The long service recipients need to be registered and ushered into the hall to their designated seats. Thank you Selvi/Sarah for taking the lead with ushering.

Event - Friday 3 April 09 (4pm)- Decorations for Long Service Awards day

All volunteers for deco, pls report to the PSG room at Fri 4pm for planning/deco. We aim to be done by 6pm. Liaison with Lesley (81339422)

Event - Thursday 2 April 09 - Bike Hike (eco study) to Pulau Ubin

Volunteers are Aslinda, Carol Foo and Lily Soh- Pls come with your boys to school. Any liaison is with Alvin directly (91962972)

Upcoming Events (Apr / May 09) - Call for Volunteers!

The following events are on-going or coming up:Lent/Easter,Long Service Ceremony 4/4, International Friendship Day 17/4, Speech Day 18/4 and some initial planning for Mothers day.

A PSG working meeting is being called for all volunteers of the above events coming up.
Our meeting is planned for Thursday 26 March 09 at 7.30am in the PSG room.

Feburary 2009 (Update)

GREETINGS TO ALL. Here are some quick updates.

TOTAL DEFENSE DAY SHARING - Tues 17 Feb (1.45pm -2.30pm) at School Hall. There will be a talk on total defense next Tuesday for the lower Sec boys. You are invited to join in too. Do introduce yourselves to Mr KC Chng if you go along.

Our First PSG Meeting - Fri 20 Feb (7.30am-9.30am) at PSG room (at end of canteen). You are cordially invited to our First meeting of the year. (timing/venue as above). The agenda will be:

- Sharing Calendar 2009
- Inviting Volunteers to Lead committeess/projects

Tea Session with Key Staff of St Gabriel's - Friday 6 March (8am-9.30am) at the canteen Pls block off this morning for a tea session with Marcel Lee and key staff. The session is for sharing, networking and gathering feedback and is for registered PSG Members only. Breakfast will be provided!

January 2009 Activities (Update)

Here's a snapshot of upcoming activities that require PSG Support & Participation:

CNY Cookies Distribution- will be on Wed 21 Jan (7.30am). Those who can come by, pls do to assist Flora and team..

CNY Oranges for Staff- will be purchased on Thu 22 Jan (noon). If anyone wants to come along, just sms Lesley (81339422). Appreciations to Virgie for sponsoring this.

New PSG Orientation- is being planned for Friday 30 Jan (6.30pm). All who can come by and support, pls meet at the foyer that evening. A list for pot-luck food will be circulated next week, but if u know what u wish to bring- just email or sms Lesley (81339422) first. We have close to 30+ new parents to invite.
