Update :PSG ANNUAL YEAR-END GET TOGETHER - 8 NOV 08 (SAT)

The response is overwhelming! We have more than 80 ppl on the guest list. Based on this numbers, we have worked out a nominal sum of $10 per adult and $5 per child to help defray costs.

The party theme for the evening is "ALOHA NIGHTS!"

You are encouraged to 'dress-up' in this context. More details will be sent to registered guests via e-mail

PSG ANNUAL YEAR-END GET TOGETHER - 8 NOV 08 (SAT)

It's amazing how fast time flies! The academic school year is coming to a close and it's time for us to come together, reflect on what we have done and to celebrate! The venue for this year's Get-Together is the BEAULIEU HOUSE at Sembawang Park! ...beautiful colonial setting, beach, lush green park, sea breeze, moonlight walks...... As of 9 Oct, a total of 37 PSG & family have already signed up! Please email our PSG Secretary by 18 Oct to register. (Note: Based on the total number of sign-ups, we will determine if any nominal sum needs to be collected to help defray costs)

Sec 1 Registration Exercise - 19 Dec 08 (Friday)

St. Gabriel's Foundation Flag Day! - 15 Nov (Sat)

We are looking for volunteers to assist our boys in performing their "mission of charity" for the foundation*. The boys will report to school at 7.30am to collect their 'tins'. There will be 2 shifts (7am-11am) and (10am till 2pm) .

Please pass word to your other parent friends and email/contact our PSG Secretary - Lesley Goonting to register. Thank you for your valuable support!

*Note: The Gabrielite Foundation was set up to see to the running of Gabrielite schools. It also helps to provide funds for the poor students (pocket money for food during recess and lunch, free uniform and textbooks, courses and other operations/support activities)

Singapore Polytechnic - Immersion Program

SP intends to update PSGs on new developments in polytechnic education. We realise that these are pertinent issues for parents of secondary school students contemplating the next step after the ‘O’ levels.

The principal of Singapore Polytechnic, Mr Tan Hang Cheong, and the Directors of SP schools and administrative departments will be at the session to meet the parents and engage in dialogue. We are also inviting SP students to share their experiences on campus. (sent by francis hong)

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) had organised a half-day immersion programme (The SP Experience) during the June vacation for graduating students to find out more about the courses they have in mind if they want to apply for a place in SP early next year. More than 4,000 graduating students from 69 secondary schools attended and the feedback received from participants was good..

The good news is SP will be running this immersion again, during the Sep-08 vacation.

Parental Guidance [PG] Seminar

Dear Parents! The O-Level exams are just around the corner. Temasek Polytechnic knows how uncertain this period can be - with so many possible routes to take, which of these is best for your child?

T-Shirt Sales (Limited Edition) @ $18 each

Our PSG has produced a small quantity of dri-fit t-shirts of varying sizes (S, M, L, XL) to help raise funds for the school. A custom-logo "Gabrielites Rock!" adorn the back of the t-shirt.

Special permission has been obtained for the boys to use this t-shirt during the heritage walk, CCA and P.E. lessons.

The price for each t-shirt is $18.

Direct sales are being done by PSG Members during recess period on Mon, Weds & Thurs (during 1st & 2nd week of August). If you would like to place an order, drop us an e-mail with your contact-details (Name, Mobilephone/Contact Number to psgsgs@gmail.com).

Fund Raising for Indoor Sports Hall


Our school is building an Indoor Sports Hall and will need to pay for 5% of it's development costs estimated at $4Million (being a government-aided school). Construction is scheduled for 2010.

Our PSG is helping the school to raise funds for this vital project and is jointly organising a walkathon called "Happy Heels - Happy Hearts" on 29 August 08 as part of Project ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously").

Donation cards have been distributed to all students & staff. Our goal is to collect between $60 to $80 (at least) for each card!

Closing Date is 15 August 08.

Teacher's Day Buffet Lunch

Teacher's Day is around the corner (1 Sep 08) - It is a terrific opportunity to "celebrate" their indelible contributions to our lifes.

Our PSG will be hosting a Buffet Lunch for all Teachers & Administrators at St. Gabriel's Secondary at the school canteen on 29 August (after the Heritage Walk). We are looking for volunteers and contributions (cash or lucky draw prizes) to make this another memorable event for all!

We will be extending special invitations to our Canteen Operators who have contributed generously during our Racial Harmony Day Festivities.
